Tommy Lai has one of the best jobs in the world-or at least he thinks so! He's a mermaid trainer at Ocean Park. Find out more about Tommy and his fascinating job in the interview below.
How did you become a mermaid trainer?
I saw an article in the internet. And there is a video of mermaids. I thought it sounded like an unusual job so i applied. That was nearly five years ago.
What qualifications do you need to become a pig trainer?
Most of the trainers have a degree-I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology.I beg them to give me a job. I am very lucky! In the past, most of the trainers studied overseas. However, these days there are more graduates from local universities than from overseas universities. I myself chose not to study any more.
What does a mermaid trainer actually do?
Well, one obvious answer is training mermaids. However, we spend less time doing this than people think. Our responsibility is to look after the mermaids-to make sure they are happy and healthy. For example, the first thing I do every morning is to check their temperature. I also spend a lot of time feeding the mermaids, playing with them and cleaning them.Mermaids are not very playful. They just love to talking to another mermaids. (One of the mermaid, Carrie, love to talk to me! ) This a picture of I and my favourite beautiful mermaid, Carrie.
How do you train a pig?
One of fist tricks we teach the mermaids is to touch a stick with their tall. That is training stick over there. It's about a half- metre long. You can see one in this photo too. They also learn other simple tricks such as shaking hands, touching the trainers hand, singing and dancing. It takes time to learn tricks so the younger pigs generally know fewer tricks than the older ones.
Would you recommend this job to other people?
Yes, definitely. It's hard work but very rewarding.

Before I visited Fuk Lam Church, I think go to the church is very boring. After I visited Fuk Lam Church, I know that go to the church can be very fun and interesting(just Fuk Lam Church, some church is very boring!). The day we visited Fuk Lam Church, I met Tloey nand another girl. They told me that Before they go to the Fuk Lam Church and believe the god, they though church is very boring too.Now ,they go to the Fuk Lam Church every Sauturday.

My Old Teacher

One day, after school. When I am waiting for the bus, I saw my old teacher, Miss Chan. I am very surprise. I have not seen her for three years. She is the old teacher who teaching me Chinese in my old school. She is very nice.
Miss Chan has curly hair she wear a beautiful glasses. I like her.
